The American Student Association of Community Colleges is pleased to announce that three-time presidential candidate and American’s leading consumer advocate, Ralph Nader, will keynote the ASACC National Student Advocacy Conference in Washington D.C. March 13, 2016. His topic will be, “Getting college students involved in the 2016 elections.” Along with that advice to the student delegations, Nader will provide his analysis on the primary elections, the candidates, and what he believes the general election in November 2016 has in store.
Honored by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential Americans of the Twentieth Century, Ralph Nader, has devoted his life to giving ordinary people the tools they need to defend themselves against corporate negligence and government indifference. With a tireless, selfless dedication, he continues to expose and remedy the dangers that threaten a free and safe society.
Since 1984 (for 32 years) ASACC has held a conference in Washington D.C. that brings over 400 student leaders from across the country to the Nation’s Capital. In the last ten years, this conference has become the largest annual student gathering on education policy to take place in Washington, D.C.
At the conference, students propose, discuss and select priorities to take to Congress and the Administration. In 2015 students focused on Pell Grants, the Reauthorization of the Higher Education Act, and Using Pre-tax Dollars for Student Loan Payments. These issues and many others will likely be on the agenda for the 20165 conference.
